comment How is language defined?
@Erik: Yes, and that was already done. During the definition stage.

comment Wine has already a place in HomeBrewing
Does homebrewing allow questions about wine pairing, and the other non-brewing aspects of wine? If so, the name is heavily misleading. I don't know about most people, but if I have a question about wine, homebrewing is the last place I would think to ask, unless I was trying to make my own.

comment Final Review: Is the proper title “Second-Language Acquisition”?
@user3169: If "Why learn a language?" isn't about language learning, I don't know what is.

comment Final Review: Is the proper title “Second-Language Acquisition”?
@user3169: I don't think I quite understand what you mean by "not what to learn". Several of the existing sample questions are about what to study (Does Latin help learn the Romance languages? Should you learn declination tables? Why learn Esperanto? Etc)

Nope. Not really interested.

I don't use Mint, and probably never will. I've been a Debian developer for over a decade, I'm not likely to change to a different distribution now.

comment Would “Language Overflow” be a good name for this site?
@Ooker: So you responded to "This isn't the time for discussing names" by discussing names?

@Ooker: Then you responded to the wrong person, because I didn't make any name suggestions at all.

Generally (always?), during beta, the sites are given very generic names. I imagine "Language Learning" or something similarly boring will be used. If/when the site graduates, that's when the more clever name is usually chosen, and that's when "Language Overflow", or other nominations, are most likely to be considered and voted on.

comment Amateur Rocketry, Model Rocketry, or just Rocketry?
@SMSvonderTann: Indeed, if there's a special meaning of "amateur" in this arena, that could indeed be very relevant.

comment Chrome OS (to be) duplicate of Android?
Well, what's clear to me is that Google isn't denying a merger, they're instead re-iterating their commitment to Chrome OS (which could--at least in theory--be honored with a merger). This sounds to me like news of the merger got leaked before they were ready for an announcement (which is consistent with the original WSJ report), perhaps before they had even made a final decision. But it may be premature to merge Chrome OS with Android here on SE.

I don't actually see where that post says Android and Chrome OS will not be merged. I just see it saying that Chrome OS isn't being "phased out." If you can point to an authoritative source that says they will not be merged, I would consider that justification for not merging the two proposals. But from what I've read at every other mention of the merger, there will be an actual merger, it just won't render Chrome OS "obsolete" in some way.
