Proposal: Game Theory

Surely this belongs in science with the other math-based proposals?

Editing to add wikipedia blurb of game theory, since I assume the misplacement is because some people think it is about computer games or board games or such things...

Game theory is a branch of applied mathematics that is used in the social sciences, most notably in economics, as well as in biology (particularly evolutionary biology and ecology), engineering, political science, international relations, computer science, social psychology, philosophy and management. Game theory attempts to mathematically capture behavior in strategic situations, or games, in which an individual's success in making choices depends on the choices of others (Myerson, 1991). While initially developed to analyze competitions in which one individual does better at another's expense (zero sum games), it has been expanded to treat a wide class of interactions, which are classified according to several criteria.

Clearly this is not a recreation topic, in the same way that high energy physics and is not a recreation activity.

It's likely that whoever categorized this didn't know what game theory means.

EDIT: You just added you post to say just that. Oh well.

is there a way to recategorise it? It's in a completely inappropriate place at the moment, which may be hiding it from those who would be interested. – TZHX Feb 10 '11 at 15:38
@TZHX: Add the change-request tag to your question to draw more attention. I don't think you can do it yourself but a moderator will pass by and fix it soon enough. – Borror0 Feb 10 '11 at 15:39
