What could I do to help get this site going? It has great potential to have lots of traffic and a very diverse user-base... especially including people who are not commonly thought of to be a Stack Exchange user.
Thanks!

If you click on the more info link where the commitment score is, you'll see that where this site is particularly lacking is in committers who already have a reputation score of at least 200 on any Stack Exchange site. So, yes, you need to advertise, advertise, advertise, but in particular, you need to find a way to advertise with people who use stack exchange a fair amount. For further information, see http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/53650/area-51-commit-percent/53733#53733

You need to recruit 90 more people, 72 of which have used Stack Exchange at least a little. So advertise the proposal to people you know, and on generalogy communities where you participate.

Just committed, so hope all will be OK. I have not used Stack Exchange before, so cannot help with the 200+ rep.

One way to help advertise is to go to the site proposal page, and under the number committed box is a "Share This" link. Click on that, and it will bring up a box that will give allow you to send an email, post a message to a social site, or embed an ad for the proposal on your website. I wish we could somehow advertise in the Stack Exchange sites themselves, but I believe that is not allowed. I'm going to be posting a one-line link to sign up at www.gensoftreviews.com for a while and see if that does anything.
