We consume food which contains lot many chemicals, excluding carbohydrate / protein / vitamins, which a lay man can easily understand. What about discussing these aspects in the propose forum.

I don't know why it was down voted, but it's not clear what you mean by discussing chemicals in the food that we consume. Are you interested if they are 'harmful' to you? if so I think that's off topic. Are you interested in how they are physically consumed? If the chemistry of that is what you're interested in, sure that's what the site is for, as long as there is a question there. If it's about the biology, then it should (and probably will) be migrated to the biology site... Can you explain more what you mean by discuss, what kind of questions do you have in mind? – Yann Feb 28 at 16:51
@Yann, i mean chemicals like carotenoids, flavanoids, essential oils etc., whihc are present in the food that we consume. Sort of natural products in the food that we consume. – Anil Feb 28 at 16:58
What about them? Can you give an example question you would ask? – Yann Feb 28 at 17:16
@ Yann, some model questions: 1. Carrots contains carotene. Does the carotene present in all those carrot family plants? 2. Cod-liver oil is rich in vitamin E. Does all deep sea fish-oils contains Vitamin E? – Anil Feb 29 at 4:43
Carotene is also a great model molecule for explaining how resonance contributes to lower energy molecules, and how this appears in the visible spectra. Not sure how you'd directly get that from a food-ier question, but I think food chemistry has some great potential as an engaging way of presenting chemistry. – Emmie MC Mar 7 at 6:13
@ Emmie MC, i think food related queries can be asked in Nutrition / cooking forums. – Anil Mar 8 at 3:53

EVERYTHING is a chemical... Heck, even the air you breathe is a chemical of one sort or another. Carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, etc. are also chemicals. It's a non-sense discussion.

Yes I am aware of that. But, the question is " excluding carbohydrate / protein / vitamins, which a lay man can easily understand" all other chemicals in food that we consume. – Anil Feb 19 at 13:57
If you are aware of that, then you should see why it's a non-sense question. :) – Larian LeQuella Feb 19 at 16:35

I mean the chemicals like carotene, minerals, flavanoids, etc (to name a few) those types of chemicals which a lay may can not understand, these type of questions can be discussed in the proposed forum. Try to read the question properly:-). – Anil Feb 20 at 4:01

Still non-sense. Those chemicals that you mentioned actually occur naturally in many things us humans eat. In order to make any sense of it, your chemicals need to be very, very restrictive. Check out this question: skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/8107/… – Larian LeQuella Feb 20 at 11:30
I never said any thing regarding synthetic chemicals. I was referring to natural ones. Still, let the users decide whether the question has to be retained or otherwise. – Anil Feb 20 at 14:30
