  1. How do I get the list of all the users (their names or IDs) who have followed the given proposal?

  2. How do I send a message from Area51 discussion zone, to all of them at once as an announcement? It would not be a spam, but I just have to send the request for gathering more followers for the proposals. How do I?

We do no provide lists of email addresses of user, nor provide a way to contact them privately. That would go against our privacy policy and users would not expect to be contacted in that manner.

I am not looking for email addresses nor their private contacts. I am just looking for the list of UserIDs of the followers from an API? I want to send a broadcast message of appeal regarding the proposal to them so that the message appears in their stackexchange inbox. – Nikhil Mulley Jan 31 '12 at 15:44

@Nikhil: The API would not provide a means of adding messages to a user's SE inbox. We do not provide instant messaging or any way to contact users privately. The gist of it is that this is not a social network and users do not expect to be contacted by you directly. Users can follow and keep abreast of the developments of a proposal through the web site. If uses wish to be contacted directly by users, they can leave contact information in their 'about me' profile. – Robert Cartaino♦ Jan 31 '12 at 15:50
hmmm...okay, but I guess the platform is so huge given the base of users, that it does not seem to me a attractive thing not to have a platform for an instant message stuff... :-/ I reckon that interactive chat for online users is greatly available :-). – Nikhil Mulley Jan 31 '12 at 16:21
