Proposal: New York

Seems like this began as a "Manhattan" proposal but with so much going on these days in Brooklyn, Queens and the other boroughs, as well as the surrounding non-NYC vicinities, should we consider defining the area as "New York City including the five boroughs plus Long Island and Westchester?"

NYC Proper seems like a better choice. I'm personally a little biased because I'm from Queens, though. I'd love to have the opinion of someone from Long Island or Westchester.

I'm from LI, and would like NYC Proper be for the 5 boroughs only no other area. – Anagio Mar 7 at 14:25

I think if this is going to be a New York City proposal, there are two choices that make sense:

  1. NYC proper (5 boroughs)
  2. NYC metro (5 borough, plus Long Island and Westchester, as suggested in the question, but also the immediate NYC-adjacent NJ cities)

I'm personally biased towards NYC proper.

Personally, I'd love option 2, if only because I know Nassau and Hudson counties fairly well, and am probably going to have a ton of Westchester questions this summer... But certainly so long as all 5 boro's are included, I'm fine with whatever decision is made. Just say NO to Manhattan-centrism! – LessPop_MoreFizz Jan 31 at 0:12

I think so. Yes I suppose this is a NYC site, not an NY or Manhattan site proposal.

NYC Proper, that should include the 5 boroughs, sorry but I don't think it should include anything out of the city, no yonkers, no west chester, no LI, no NJ. I'm from LI and would love an SE site that was strictly NYC.
