Proposal: Voting Systems

I like the proposal and followed it. Still I thought it might be useful to note that questions about voting systems (or at least voting theory) would most likely be welcome at http://economics.stackexchange.com.

I've started a discussion in the meta Economics SE to clarify this point : https://economics.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/1567/are-questions-on-voting-systems-on-topic.

The same might be true of politics.stackexchange.com, at least as far as voting systems related to political issues (voting systems can of course be used in many other areas unconnected with politics). – Martin Van der Linden Apr 17 '16 at 16:51

Great question. What principles determine when it's appropriate to keep the field under Economics/Math/Politics and when it's appropriate to break it out into its own StackExchange? – rafaelcosman Apr 17 '16 at 21:49

I am not quite sure, but I remember people mentioning that overlap with other SE sites is not enough of a reason to close a new proposal (e.g. game theory questions were always welcome at Math SE, but the Game Theory proposal made it to the beta). I guess one question is how much about the topic cannot already be asked on other websites. Even if the overlap is substantial, the website may be successful if there is a benefit (in terms of community building, visibility, you name it) from gathering the questions under the same umbrella instead of spreading them across different website. – Martin Van der Linden Apr 17 '16 at 22:36
