Proposal: Language Learning

This is just a suggestion. As this site would contain questions about multiple languages, would the name Language Overflow be considered good for it?

@Ooker I never said that my suggestion is based on expertise or anything. The name sounds good, relevant and important. So, I just threw in a suggestion. – Dawny33 Nov 24 '15 at 10:53

I'm not saying that this is a bad idea either. – Ooker Nov 24 '15 at 10:57

@Ooker Ohh sorry. I haven't noticed that you were the OP for that question (My bad!) Thanks for linking it. :) – Dawny33 Nov 24 '15 at 10:59

Generally (always?), during beta, the sites are given very generic names. I imagine "Language Learning" or something similarly boring will be used. If/when the site graduates, that's when the more clever name is usually chosen, and that's when "Language Overflow", or other nominations, are most likely to be considered and voted on. – Flimzy Nov 24 '15 at 21:37

@Flimzy But be careful, because the name can lead the questions the site will have. I have thought about it in Health SE before: I think the reason the site attracts personal questions is because of its name – Ooker Nov 26 '15 at 16:23

@Ooker: Be careful about what? About reporting how SE works when it comes to naming things? – Flimzy Nov 26 '15 at 16:29

@Flimzy no, I mean that a wrong site name can lead to bad questions, even with proposals. However, I don't think Language Learning could be a bad name – Ooker Nov 26 '15 at 16:32

@Ooker: Then you responded to the wrong person, because I didn't make any name suggestions at all. – Flimzy Nov 26 '15 at 16:32

@Flimzy I responded to your saying "If/when the site graduates, that's when the more clever name is usually chosen..." – Ooker Nov 26 '15 at 18:08

@Ooker: So you responded to "This isn't the time for discussing names" by discussing names? – Flimzy Dec 2 '15 at 9:15

@Flimzy LOL. Actually, I discussed the name before that comment. After that, I discussed about "If/when the site graduates, that's when the more clever name is usually chosen..." only, and nothing else. – Ooker Dec 2 '15 at 10:38

I would say no, it wouldn't be a good name. This is supposed to be a site for language learners, and the name reflects that. "Language Overflow" is much more vague - it could be a name of a site for professional linguists, or for people whose hobby is to learn about languages. Here are some more arguments: https://english.meta.stackexchange.com/a/5220/147300 (see "Seriously - sticking the word "Overflow" at the end honestly rolls pretty stupid as a name in 90% or more of situations").
