I have an idea for a new proposal, and I think it's quite cool (don't we all?). But I am worried that I would not be able to attract traffic to the proposal. Having a cool proposal is one thing. But marketing is a totally different thing.

So to clear my doubts and to be a good reference point for future proposal creators, I am asking: What are the ways of marketing/advertising/attracting traffic to newly created Area51 proposals? And how these strategies differ in definition/commitment/beta phases?

If you already have a proposal that has taken off, please list the things that you did to improve participation.

@J.Musser: Thanks. Apart from the first result, rest seem to be useful :D – Krumia Aug 26 '14 at 4:25
