Proposal: Healthcare IT

Does anyone have suggestions on how to promote the site? Are there message boards in the health care IT area that we could post to? I would really like to see the site come to fruition, I think it would be useful in the industry, but we need to get a critical mass of people committing, which is taking a long time right now. There is no momentum right now on the proposal.

For those of us working in the industry, tell your co-workers. Ask them to join. I just found this proposal and I plan to promote it to people at work.

HISTalk is an existing site that is read by many in the industry, and where you could probably get a brief mention. But you would need to make it compelling enough that people come to this "weird" Area 51 site and go through the process of creating a user to commit to the site. Seems like it would be much easier if the site already existed and had some questions on it, then you'd have some content to draw people in.

If one were to give an example of a Stack Exchange site, Personal Finance is one people might relate to. – washirv May 11 '11 at 21:59

Our main problem is the commitment score, so we need plenty of the people who committed early on to uncommit and then recommit.

The smaller problem is we need another 10 people with 200+ rep on any site to commit.

Edit: As Dori mentioned in the comment below, it will be a heck of a lot quicker if some of the people with < 200 rep got the extra rep as this would drive up both the commitment score as well as the 200+ rep metric.

Yeah, this was particularly annoying as I encouraged non-SO users in my department to sign up (who could really benefit). It would be nice if there was some sort of way of porting perceived rep on other systems to StackExchange. – Peter Turner Jul 12 '11 at 13:13
@Dori - But what about the commitment score that is sitting at 77%? – xiaohouzi79 Jul 13 '11 at 2:14
@Peter - As Dori mentioned if you can ask your colleagues to get up to 200 rep on any SE site it would help immensely in getting us over the line. There's plenty to choose from :) stackexchange.com/sites – xiaohouzi79 Jul 13 '11 at 3:38

I noticed an ad on the StackOverflow page for Healthcare IT proposal; great!

It wouldn't hurt to mention the site on LinkedIn profiles.
